New age beliefs and Spiritual exploration

You need to know what the purpose of the New Age followers is and what is all this spirituality about. In order to understand you will have to read in the other sections. New Age movement and belief system wishes to share those thoughts with you. Over the last few years, the society has come to realize that, we have personally, been getting a crash course in "What Life is All About". Most people only became spiritual minded in 1970s and became aware that there is a specific Path for them. New Age belief is best characterized as spiritual exploration. It unlike most of the world's religions is a relatively new faith. At first glance, it is similar to Wicca, Hinduism, and Buddhism. There is a unique Path, just for me. This Path is not the same for you, or anyone else. Some people call this sort of thing, "their mission in life", or "their calling". I like the simplicity of the word, Path, as it is less "grandiose". To do what comes naturally, is to use my natural "talents" in what I "choose" to do.It is a flexible belief and that believers have different paths and different beliefs based on the teachings that they believe and their own experiences.

One of the most fundamental beliefs underlying the New Age project is that there is a divine plan at work in the earth. We believe this divine plan contains within it spiritual truths that are the same for all human beings, regardless of their race, creed, sex, personal beliefs, religious persuasion or cultural conditioning. Although many of these spiritual truths can be found in virtually every religious movement in the world, they are often difficult to recognize, understand and apply. Many New Agers also believe in an aura, a field which is radiated by the body. A person's aura can be detected a person's state of mind and overall well-being. There is a search for purpose and spiritual meaning from not one path, but through diverse religions. There is no one or few sacred texts as in other world religions. Strict dogmas are not of great importance to New Agers. For example there is a strong belief in the renaissance of the feminine in religion. The belief here is that feminine spirits or entities have been "subordinated, masked, or obliterated by patriarchial movements that were widely practiced when sacred teachings were first committed to writing."

We create everything we experience:

  • Our thoughts create our feelings;
  • Our feelings create our actions and reactions;
  • Our actions and reactions create our life experiences.

  • Erroneous, childish, immature, and half-baked misconceptions are responsible for all our painful experiences.
  • The misconceptions we carry at the level of our souls lead us to create childhoods that reflect our deeper core patterns. We can, therefore, use our childhood experiences and misconceptions as a first step towards understanding and healing the deeper afflictions of our soul.
  • The perceptions we form about life as children, as well as the way we decide, as children, to respond to our childish perceptions, form unconscious "images" that determine how we instinctively respond to life. Unless these unconscious images are dug up and healed they continue to operate in our lives, regardless of how much we may have developed in other ways. Painful patterns, that repeat again and again in our lives, are proof that childish images are at work. An inability to overcome certain problems is also an indication that unconscious images have not been dealt with fully.

The helpful introduction written by Charles Strohmer, defines and describes the foundational “New Age way of seeing life” identified by the author as “foreign.” Here several key terms are put in the spotlight: monism, pantheism, Gnosticism, polytheism, animism, and energy. When exploring any issue within the New Age Movement, it would be helpful to refer back to this section and review these terms, for these beliefs are the concrete bottom of the New Age structure and explain why adherents engage in many strange practices.
